I agree - most of the "new" music is lacking in Catholic taste! The only exceptions are the early Deiss and Murray pieces used back in the early 19060's.

You need to google "Tra le sollicitudini", which is the name of the motu proprio issued. You will find in near the end where it states, "pianos, percussion and other instruments.

I always thought this was a stiring, lovely anthem. I know it was the anthem during the Communist regime. Now, if I could only forgive what the early Communist regime did to my family in a cellar in 1918.

It's nice to know that some Catholic parishes are still actually Catholic! In my part of North Carolina, 90% of them use pianos, keyboards and other non appropate instruments -all of which were actually banned in the Moto-Proprio of Pope St. Pius X!

That IS a boy about 10 or so, called a Treble. They are especially trained daily for that singing style in churches/cathedrals. Look up Hark the Herald Angels Sing from Kings College and you will see them and hear them.

I was about 3, and my mother said I played that, and only that, over and over to the point she thought she would lose her mind hearing it so much. She actually had dreams about ole "Alley Oop". Sadly, part of our burned, and that record was lost in the fire.

What's missing is the correct attitdue - these "gentlemen" are making a joke of this beautiful hymn - joke that is speaks very poorly of them.
