Alvin Seah Khee Tian

Mini biography

He grew up in Bandar Hilir, Melaka with a father who was very influenced by Western culture and mother who is a Chinese school teacher. When he was young, Seah wanted to be a rock star or a computer hacker. In the 90s he discovered digital sound sampling and music sequencing on his father's Commodore Amiga and re-composed his favourite songs with tracker program Soundtracker. Under the impression that he'll excel in computer studies, Seah enrolled himself in college to major in Computer Science but leaned towards developing Graphic User Interfaces rather than coding the backend of computer softwares. Eventually he decided to develop his skills in art and design and formed rock bands like Kelp and Auburn which released albums "Least Wanted Hits" (Guitarist, Kelp) and "Karya" (Drummer, Auburn) during his college days.

His strong understanding and passion for both graphics and music resulted in his flair for motion graphics. This is evident when he won two Nokia AV Maker Awards for his work "Wayang Kulit" (2002) and " Kelap-Kelip" (2003). When local rap group Ahli Fiqir executive producer Moses L. Chan and saw his work at a local video arts exhibition, he asked him to direct the music video for " Angguk-angguk Geleng-geleng". This video grabbed a handful of awards like the Malaysian 10th Video Awards 2005 and the Malaysian Music Industry Award (AIM) 2005. Being heavily-rotated on MTV, this success brought huge attention from other local artistes to his style in graphics-driven music videos.

This led to a collaboration between him and Love Me Butch when the band asked him to direct the music video for "Hollywood Holiday" during his employment at design studio Hue Visualab. This video won awards and nominations namely the Malaysian Music Industry Award and the Malaysian English Top 10 Awards 2006.

He currently resides in Petaling Jaya, Selangor with his fiance and continues to create motion graphics for the advertising industry as Director of Motion Design for post-production facility 111Eye.
