Yes it is similar to French in that the way the verbs effect the words, but Polish is more closely related to the Slavic languages

Just thought i would explain the "extra letters" as you put it in your visit poland video. Unlike english polish verbs and nouns decline using endings to distinguish the difference so the reason they add extra j's etc... is to make it agree with the subject. It is rather like french but some what more complicated making it slightly difficult for an english person to learn but when you have the concept it isn't that hard.
