About this user

The most important thing to know about me is that I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour at the age of 7. I came to realize that I had a great need, even as a child, and that I was a sinner. My Christian parents were strong witnesses and clearly expressed to me my need of a Savior. During a communion service the Pastor was sharing what Christ had done for me, how Christ shed His blood and died for my sins, was buried and rose again that I might have justification. I remember realizing that I was lost and needing a Saviour. I had spent from one communion to the next concerned that I would go to hell because of my sin. I accepted Christ as my personal Saviour that day about 6 pews back. That day I knew for sure that I was on my way to heaven. It was a few years later before I truly understood what really happened that day. That realization, which came from Bible study and by sitting under some excellent Pastors and teachers, and by conviction of the Holy Spirit, led me to commit my life to the Lord when I was in my early 20s. I remember praying to the Lord that whatever He wanted me to do, that is what I wanted to do. And God is faithful and put me into many ministries. My central ministry has been as Bible Teacher at the Altoona Bible Church (www.altoonabible.org), now for over twenty five years. I have taught the adult Ambassador Sunday School class for those years; been a principal teacher in the Grace Bible Institute since its inception in 1998 teaching a range of courses such as Dispensational theology, Basic Bible Doctrines, Apologetics, Bible Exposition, Angeology, Book studies, the Bible, etc, covering most aspects of a Bible Theology education; taught many years of youth retreats and Daily Vacation Bible Schools and church camps; and filled the pulpit at various times. I teach youth groups and am principle teacher for most junior high and senior high youth outings. Teaching God's Word to those that the Lord brings into my life is not a job, it is a calling. I can't remember ever complaining about teaching...oh it hasn't always been easy, but it has always been a blessing. Teaching is one calling of God that always gives more to the teacher than the teacher can possibly share...but it is the Lord that is producing the increase...we just water and sow anyways. The second most important thing to know about me is how much the Lord has blessed me with a loving family. My lovely wife Penny, my daughter Stephanie and my son Aaron. Penny and I have been married for 28 years and are more one now than ever. The Lord has been the center of our marriage and family, with my children practically growing up in the church. My daughter is married to Josh, an excellent young man and have a little girl, Sophia, which is our first grandchild, and expecting a boy, Matthias, in the near future. Both Josh and Steph are elementary education teachers are very involved in the ministry at ABC. My son Aaron is married to Liz, a wonderful and talented young lady and they too are expecting a child in the near future, a girl named Ava. Aaron is a special education teacher working with special needs children and Liz is a registered nurse. Both Aaron and Liz are involved in the ministry at ABC as well. I should note that both Aaron and Josh are Bible teachers at the church as well.

What can I say! Praise the Lord for all He has done! Each day promises even more blessings as we continue to grow in the Lord.
