Christian left the Kora Reserve in 1973. He made his new territory along the Tana river, but when the Wakamba herdsmen kept bringing their livestock to his hunting ground, he moved on. George Adamson said in his autobiography, "I used to count the days on which we hadn't seen Christian, but when they reached 97, I gave up recording them in my diary." Because a lion can live from 12 to 15 years in the wild, Adamson believed that Christian ended his days in the Meru National Reserve only a few miles up river.
As for the two guys, the Born Free Foundation tells me that Anthony "Ace" Bourke (referred to as Ace "Berg" on YouTube) lives in Australia as a lecturer and expert in the area of Aboriginal Art, and John Rendall lives in the UK and is a Trustee of the George Adamson Wildlife Preservation Trust.

Here's a perfect example of what happens when you show an animal love. ^_^ Christian was brought up by two humans and here he is greeting one of them. It warms my heart every time I see this, because the lion is like "Hey, I know you! *GLOMP!*" :D And who says cats aren't loyal? Christian's story is told in both a documentary and a book. THIS IS NOT MINE! This footage from the documentary was kleptoed from www.kimbawlion.com- a FANTASTIC website about Kimba the White Lion. ^_^ So send all Kudos where it belongs!

iN 2007 A highway near Wadsworth, Ill. became the site of a grisly accident involving a double-decker truck designed for pigs but jam-packed with Belgian horses—a massive draft breed. Belgians can weigh more than a ton. More than a dozen horses perished in the crash, and most of the surviving horses suffered a range of injuries. With the truck tipping over, and the horses severely injured and jumbled on top of one another, it was a ghastly scene. It is said some of the horses were in the mangled mess for hours while awaiting rescue. It's not perfectly clear where these horses were headed. But it does remind us all of the many hazards of confining large numbers of horses in long-distance transport. The principal purpose for these types of shipments is slaughter, and now the horses are going hundreds of miles into Canada and Mexico. Let's redouble our efforts to pass the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act, S. 311 and H.R. 503.

One of the rescued horses, Mama, and her new Colt, Twist of Fate.
Early in the morning of September 27, 2006, 42 horses in an overcrowded, double-deck tractor-trailer were headed to a slaughter house in Illinois. A horrific accident on Interstate 44 in Franklin County, Missouri left 16 of the animals dead. (The driver, his wife and dog survived the accident.) Fortunately, a team of emergency rescuers and veterinarians led by Earlene Cole, director of the Humane Society of Missouri's Longmeadow Rescue Ranch, were able to rescue 25 horses and one hinny.
Many of the horses required extensive care from the fantastic, professional staff and doctors at four area equine hospitals. All received nearly round-the-clock, loving care from the staff at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch. Unfortunately, two horses have had to be humanely euthanized due to injuries and preexisting conditions.
And now, after four months of recuperation and rehabilitation, many of these remarkable horses are ready for new homes. Some are rideable, some are trainable, some would make good companion horses. All need just the right new family to ensure they will have easy livin' the rest of their lives.
