David, Gailg64 here. I rec'd your note through an older YouTube channel I somehow lost the ability to log onto. This is from my new channel.
First of all, I have greatly enjoyed your film clips here--it's especially wonderful that you caught legendary fiddlers such as J. Laurel Johnson on film, as well as some of the old style up picked banjo you don't hear much any more. My home is Chapel Hill, NC but know many musicians in the Asheville area with whom I could put you in touch if you are planning a visit. Some are kind to folks in the film. You may also wish to speak with the Director of the NC Folklife progam & his wife, who live in Raleigh. They are old friends of mine & my husband's. They may be of further help in identifing some of the people in your films & also with advice as to how best to approach descendents in western NC. Send me an email at ggail6@gmail.com.
Best wishes & happy new year, Gail

@allinaday Hey David! It's really nice to hear from you... I was watching some of your videos last night. Really inspritational for me. I've heard about you before and you're a great filmmaker.

That video is not actually supposed to be on this account... woops! I use this account just for viewing, but I use THIS one: ambergoestothailand for all my videos.

Good luck to you!

As usual your videos are always progressing, a little better everytime. You have a natural instinct when it comes to film making. Thank you for continuing to bless the world with your videos. David, you are a gift from God, and the heart to go with the gift. The outcome of watching your films always leaves me with a good feeling, even when the subject may have a dark side. Thank you.
