The only think I condone in this video is how they didn't use a bit. That was considerate. Instead of a halter, try a hackamore next time. Also, I've broken a few ponies, I break them bareback first, then saddlework. If you start with a lot of ground work, there's never much bucking involved.

@maxm4ss But I do agree you should not hang on the reins. Give the horse slack so they won't pull you over their neck in a buck or loose their balance in a rear. And if you do bail or fall off, let go of the reins.

TWH seem to make the best babysitters :) I learned to ride on a four year old TWH as well! He is quite old and lazy now but I owe him everything I know!

Like someone else said, horses are not deer or mules, they can't jump from a standstill. Also, those horses look like spotted saddle or TWH. Gaited breeds suck at jumping. I love gaited breeds, but jumping is NOT their forte. Second, get out of those horses' mouths.

I ride, I don't wear a helmet, it's a personal decision. And like others have said, if the pony can clear that jump so easily and canter without a problem, she is obviously not too heavy. Keep up the videos :)
