This version of "Shadow Dancing" was filmed before a live studio audience in Canada, for a Canadian program called "Party With The Rovers." Allied Artists CEO & Chairman, Kim Richards was called upon to run sound for Andy during the taping. Andy performed to an instrumental track that had backups from the record already on it. Therefore, the lead vocal you hear is his live vocal, but the backups are actually from the original recording. Andy wasn't thrilled with the final show because he thought the backups made the whole performance look hokey. Mr. Richards agreed with him to some extent, but thinks this show gives the viewer a rare opportunity to see how Andy handled boredom. He had performed this song so many times, he was a bit bored with it. Watch his performance and you'll see how he took some liberties with the performance and had some fun with it. That was typical of Andy and helped set him apart from many others in the industry.

In 1986 Andy Gibb phoned his longtime friend and Allied Artists' CEO Kim Richards at the last minute and asked him to run sound for his appearance on the March of Dimes Telethon. It seems someone had just contacted Andy in need of star-power, to help drive up donations. Despite no opportunity to rehearse, no meaningful sound check and basically volunteer backup singers, Andy went out and performed "An Everlasting Love." Mr. Richards recalls "I have to admit that I did a horrible job that day. The blend of the backup singers' voices was terrible, but Andy made the show by just being Andy. The depth of his emotion, his stage presence, audience interaction and personality overshadowed all of the imperfections. Donations soared during and after his performance turning fears into jubilance. There will never be another performer that strikes the same effect on an audience as Andy did."

The end of the 1970's and beginning of the 1980's in the music business belonged almost exclusively to Andy Gibb, who dominated the charts with three number 1 hits in a row - I Just Want To Be Your Everything; (Love Is) Thicker Than Water; and Shadow Dancing. In 1976, before Andy's meteoric rise to fame, Kim Richards (now CEO & Chairman of Allied Artists) was touring with the Bay City Rollers in Australia when the two met and became fast friends. Later that year, Andy relocated to the states, where his brother, Barry produced his first album, Flowing Rivers. Kim was tapped to stand by his friend Andy, as he embarked on a career in America. The pair maintained a grueling schedule for the next two years, traveling the world, before Kim went on staff at CBS Records. Kim produced a number of Andy's live shows and television appearances throughout those years, and reprised that role on select occasions in the years that followed, mostly for charitable events. Although no longer working together daily, Kim and Andy remained extremely close right up to the time of Andy's untimely death in March of 1988 - a day Kim recalls as being one of the darkest days of his life.
