Alki was composer-in-residence at the world-renowned La Mama theatre, was staff composer at the Sun Group, an award-winning NYC production house, and composed as well as performed numerous silent film scores for the Film Forum. He musical directed/supervised the multi-celebrity benefit A Call for Bread at Madison Square Garden. He founded and led the popular New York Latin-jazz band, Zig-Zag, and represented the United States on a two-month goodwill tour of Mozambique and South Africa with the Friends Across Borders Project.
As a performer, Alki recreates the songbooks of Nat King Cole and Hoagy Carmichael, the latter available on CD. He has appeared in concert with cellist, Eugene Friesen, of the Paul Winter Consort, and with rock n' roll Hall of Famers, THE BAND. He has toured with the Virtual Consort in their acclaimed live silent film performances, and was featured soloist at the 1999 Sandpoint Festival performing George Gershwin's American Classic, Rhapsody In Blue, as well as the world premiere of Michael Giacchino's Camden 2000 with the Haddenfield symphony. His performances in Portugal with the group Filantropia culminated in sharing the bill with Brazilian superstar, Milton Nascimento at the Tom de Fest in Tandela. Recently Alki played the Lucerne Festivals Off-Stage Piano in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Alki's CD, PHILATELY, showcases his own songs and music, and features performances by musicians from the Miami Sound Machine, and Latin-jazz Grammy winner Nestor Torres. Alki's CD, MUSIC FOR SENTIENT BEINGS, is an ambient, meditative work that features renowned world musician Jorge Alfano on ethnic flutes, as well as light percussion and acoustic guitar.
