About ten years ago, if you were in Europe or America you couldn't listen to the radio or walk into a club without hearing "Better off Alone".
A second world war bunker in the heart of Holland was the birthplace of the dutch dance project Alice Deejay.
It all started in 1999 when DJ Jurgen introduced two young producers Pronti & Kalmani to platinum selling duo Danski and Delmundo. A fruitful collaboration was the result. Pronti & Kalmani writing songs and making sounds with Danski & Delmundo picking the potential hits and finishing production. Violent Music, their independent company, launched and managed the group.
The result was the album "Who Needs Guitars Anyway?" selling over a million copies and 5 big international hits: "Better Off Alone" (UK #2), "Back in my Life" (UK #4), "Will I Ever" (UK #7), "Forever as One" (UK #16) and Celebrate our Love (UK #17). Other countries where the Alice Deejay project hit the top of the charts were Germany, France, South Africa, Australia, Scandinavia, BeNeLux, Spain, Portugal and Canada.
In 2002 everybody involved in the project felt they'd done all they could do and called it quits. P&K went on to form their own production company and are now producing Dash Berlin. Judy is currently a known tv personality in homecountry the Netherlands.
In spring 2011 Laidback Luke created a bootleg plaything for himself, the result:
A monster remix of this Classic. Dropped for the first time during the Miami WMC and creating instant mayhem, it is now on it's way to become the most wanted piece of Dutch Artillery for this festival season.
Being played by; Alex Gaudino, Armin van Buuren, Swedish House Maffia, Fedde Le Grand, Erick E, DJ Jean, Judge Jules (BBC Radio 1), Marco V, The Scumfrog and David Guetta.
