@markbenoit Sorry I wasnt clear, using excessive heat in the weld, causes more grain growth in the metal adjacent to the weld than you want. This in turn causes embrittlement in the grain structure. You really want to keep the heat input to a minimum with low alloy steels. using the big unnecessa...
