I am a great Al Bowlly fan, but I mainly recall Anona Winn on some radio quiz programme in the 50s (Animal, Mineral and vegetable)? I have seen photographs of her with Al, but know very little about her as an entertainer and singer. Thanks for uploading it.

Motorcycling through the Malvern hills, I stopped to get out of the rain. The Oxfam shop had a cassette of Strauss's Four Last Songs, which I bought on impulse. One of my best buys ever. I've heard many excellent versions but still prefer this one by Miss Norman.

The more I watch this clip, the funnier it gets.

Wonderful piece of music. I noticed it featured in 'The Page Turner' film when it was played as a trio, wasn't it? By the way, if you've never seen that film, make the effort.

It also featured in the dramdoc on BBC about the Wannsee conference in which the 'final solution' was cooked up.

They put it on late at night. No plugging of the film. It's French with sub-titles. Well, probably the best film I have seen for a long, long time. I've ordered the DVD.
