Browsing the net,music,travel,reading anything i can get my hands on,i love going to the beach,having coffee,cooking(its a kind of therapy for me..i love experimenting with new recipes and different cuisines from goan vindaloos, portugese porc alentajana, thai version of sukiyaki,malaysian nasi goreng to chinese-singaporean bak kuh teh soup, yumm!!!!), i do sketching to free my mind sometimes, look at vintage photos and wonder how life was back then, listening and collecting old school music, going thru flea markets for bargains and curios,nature tripping,playing in the rain, i collect buddhas from bronze heads, terracotta busts, tiny wooden reclining tantric figures with languid eyes to batik prints in impossible colors..im planning to study yoga and learn more about buddhism...i have a strange fascination for ghosts and paranormal and things freaky,,,,,my dream is to travel the world... id like to witness the carnival in rio and eat feijoada, ride the gondola in venice, work for one summer in a rustic farm in gascony and learn how to cook cassoulet,swim in goa ,sao paolo and ibiza,climb the eiffel, feel the mystery of giza, meditate with the dalai lama, experience the african savannah,sunbathe in the carribean, gawk at mummies at the museo de momias in guanajato, hold a koala, chant mantras with monks in a buddhist temple,visit the majestic ankor wat and the ancient city pf petra, explore the ruins of palmyra and tikal and mesa verde, eat as much seafood as i can in the streetside stalls of bangkok,feel the cold tingling spray of niagara falls on my face, see the geysers spurt in yellowstone park,watch the sunrise in serengeti,ride camels in the sahara,explore the great bazaar in istanbul,traverse the chinese wall,penguin-spotting in patagonia,trek the himalayas,detoxicate in an ashram guided by a guru,walk barefoot in a vineyard in Bordeaux and crush grapes with my feet to make wine,watch flamenco in malaga,stroll along central park in fall,mardi gras in new orleans,bask in the greek isles,sip sake in a japanese garden wearing a silk kimono,climb machu pichu,dance the kecak in bali,sip tea and gorge on bananas and coconuts in colombo, walk the cobblestones of florence , see the big ben,be photographed alongside royalty and celebrities in madam tussauds and simply being silly,LOL , see king kong in universal studios,attend paris and milan fashion weeks, celebrate new year in times square..feel the snow in my fingers!!!..so much things that wouldnt fit in one lifetime id be happy if i get to do only one to satisfy my sense of adventure and experience the things ive read and heard so much about!!!!!!!!!!
Movies:
not much of a tv/movie person but i love watching oprah, reality tv, film noir (my fair lady, casablanca and old movies), natgeo, will and grace, fashion TV, project runway,sex in the city series and the movie,Tv moda,foreign films(provided it has subtitles, gives me a chance to know about other people and cultures)
Music:
i love westcoast,soul,jazz, rock,folk,broadway,funk, urban crossover, fusion,adult contemporary,dance,new age, chillout,vocalese & acapella,spoken word,groove,indie,rhythm and blues, neosoul,samba and bossanova ( viva brasiliero!!).my taste is varied ranging on different genres but im not into mainstream and i tend to go against what's in...if it sounds good to me, i like it not because its popular or makes one cool to everyone else...nothing can compare with old school music!!!!!).

isabel allende ( i have all her books,but i like eva luna, the house of spirits and daughter of fortune very much), john irving(the world according to garp, widow for one year, a son of the circus, the hotel new hampshire, a prayer for owen meany...ive read almost all his books and the thing with his stories is that you'd love the characters so much that you just wouldnt want the story to end...plus, he makes me laugh!!!) anne-marie macdonald's fall on your knees (a dark, gothic saga of four sisters and a father's forbidden love), orhan pamuk's my name is red ( a rich story of turkish miniaturist art and religious intrigue in 16th century ottoman empire), sir richard burton's translation of one thousand and one arabian nights, hans fallada's alone in berlin ( relates how not all germans agree to the nazi doctrine), the red tent by anita diamant( tells of genesis's unsung heroine, dina, joseph's sister and jacob's only daughter..fascinatingly told tale about the fictional life of women in the biblical times) laura esquivel 's like water for chocolate, khalid hosseni (the kite runner,a thousand splendid suns)both novels set in his hometown afghanistan, paul coelho(the alchemist..his first and probably the best one), joanne harris(chocolat/ 5 quarters of the orange), gabriel garcia marquez( 100 years of solitude), chitra divakaruni ( one amazing thing ), lisa see ( shanghai girls ), tracy chevalier (girl with the pearl earring/ the lady and the unicorn) , sheridan le fanu's ghost stories, c.r.lewis's narnia series, lemony snicketts's unfortunate series of events( 1-13), charles dickens' a tale of two cities, J.R. tolkiens's the hobbitt and the lord of the rings trilogy, jeanne kalogridis ( i, monalisa, borgia, the bride), arundathi roy( god of small things), ursula hegi's stones from the river (a fascinating story of a female dwarf in pre/post world war II germany), christopher moore's YOU SUCK (cant imagine vampires having a good side but the undead in this story sure do..very funny i love it!!! ), augusten burroughs's running with scissors (a funny memoir of a gay man )...arthur golden (memoirs of a Geisha), J.K. rowlings"s HARRY POTTER..i prefer the books than the films!!!!(from the philosper's stone to deathly hallows!!!), rani manicka's the rice mother ( four generations of malaysian women) , m.j. vassanji's the asassin's song, the collected short stories of roald dahl, ian irving detective novels,and biographies in novel form like angela's ashes by frank mc court ( about his poor irish childhood ) and of course the sequel, T ' is....,eat pray love by elizabeth gilbert,about her adventures in life in that order, PICO IYER's video night in kathmandu (a wild, riotous and funny obvservation of the love-hate relationship between asia and the the influence of the west, in the form of a travelogue)..louise brown's dancing girls of lahore( about the sex trade in pakistan, an enlightening read!!!),,i absolutely adore zadie smith's on beauty and her other book,white teeth,,,cecilia ahern's if you could see me now( makes you want to be a kid again and believe in fairy tales..a nice way to get lost for a while, lol!!!)..im in love with judi piccoult. she writes feel-good chic-lit that makes me laugh,gasp and cry and there's always an ironic twist at the end which leaves you breathless. i had just discovered salman rushdie. ive read his infamous banned book , gosh, the efforts of getting ahold of that book!!!its about two indians who survived an airplane bombing only to evolve into schizoprenia and play unlikely characters, the archangel gabriel and lucifer bound to outdo each other)but i cant say it's his best though that one surely made him famous..its sure is blasphemous.... i find the ending anticlimactic though his colorful narrative midnight's children is the best ive read so far..if i need a bit of advice, i love going thru maya angelou's quotes as well as paulo coelho's...they come in pretty handy!!!.
