I agree with you. White was better overall, but Smith was better as a pass rusher. Also, Smith had no help on the D-line; White had the benefit of guys like Jerome Brown and Clyde Simmons taking blockers from him.

The crowd didn't laugh because Mr. Choi said he was a manual laborer. They laughed because of the particular slang he used--which was probably intentionally meant to be funny by Mr. Choi. It's a linguistic nuance that you can't pick up unless the language well.

You are quite incorrect. There are more Christians than Buddhists in Korea. See for instance Wikipedia's entry on South Korea:
