Try listening to some Elliot Mason, or Bob Mcchesney, that's fast trombone playing. James Morrison definitely has some strong high range though.

Wonderful. The fast lines right after a minute don't flow with the solo just quite.
Try to make them connect with the rest of the solo, like logical communication. Use something new enough, eventually it is assimilated into the soloing, it's all about comfortability. In some time this guy will be...

I'm so good at trombone!
NOTE: I'M NOT SERIOUS. This is pretty clearly a home movie of me as a child - luckily I've improved a bit in the last ten years.

I prefer Elliot Mason's sound a little more. Check out Mason Brothers 1st set on youtube, his sound is unmatched. He also does bass trumpet, unlike any jazz trombone players I know of. He does more fusion, and plays out of the box, it's innovative.

I would suggest feeling it more than just playing the notes. Everything is accurate, just try to feel it. However feel is something even professional trombonists struggle with at times.

It sounds better an octave lower. You don't have to be able to do this effect. It is in fact flutter tonguing, the other technique, growling, involves using the voice under the pitch.
