About this user

Alexandra Fotinou was born in Canada and grew up in Corfu. She began dancing in the Dance Laboratory of Corfu and a little later she studied ballet, modern, flamenco and jazz.

She graduated from the Laban Center in London with excellence, taking The Bachelor of Dance Movement (professional faculty of dance) and took up with the authentic Latin dances. She specialized in the Cuban movement via travels lasting several months in the Latin countries, attending seminars and apprenticeship next to famous Latin dance teachers (R, Fournier, E.Tores, H.Gonzales).

She got off with and studied the dance of abdomen (oriental dance or belly dance) during travels she made in Arabic countries. She started dancing professionally presenting oriental shows at Music Halls in Greece. At the same time she organized and participated in oriental seminars with the known French Belly dancer Ottilie Eucher and the American Zahraa .

She participated in the years after in numerous oriental seminars and workshops (Raquia Hassan, Aida Nour and Nagua Sultan, Suha Azar (Lebanon) , Assia Germa (Algeria) Farida Fahmy ,Khaled Mahmoud, Asmahan to mention a few.)

Since then, she has being dancing in numerous well known Greek Oriental restaurants , in almost all the big night clubs in Athens and Thessalonica and in countless parties, shows, presentations, promotions, weddings, Hotels .Also he has performed in Turkey (several times), Cyprus, Spain, Egypt.

Alexandra Fotinou is the most well known belly dancer in Greece and she has been invited at the biggest TV shows (www.youtube.com/alexandraFot) . The Greek and Turkish press has written about her various times and she has been at the first page when she danced for the son of the king of Libya Mohamed Kadafi.

She has been co-performing with the well known musicians Haig Yazdjian, Nihat Natzar and Mohamet Arafa at various musical stages, also presented her own dance group and musical performance with the Iraqi musician Mohamed Aluma. Also she has danced with Balkan Beat Box and the famous DJ Shantel.

She is also teaching private and open classes in Dance schools and her own Dance Studio.

She has also being dancing for the municipality of Athens (Athens Festival) in various cultural events. Also participates in the 1st Medieval Festival in Greece (2007) and in big Festivals at Helexpo (Thessalonica) and S.E.F (Athens).

She always continues her TV appearances in most of the biggest TV shows and in Jan. ΄06 Anna Drouza presents her work in a two hour TV show. The Turkish ΝTV channel presented a portrait of her as the most well known Greek belly dancer (Apr.΄06) .

Alexandra was the first to introduce the oriental shows at the clubs (starting at Fogg΄s2001) also the first belly dancer to have presented the shows of Wings of Isis and Candelabra in Greece and also the first to play the leading part in a video clip of a famous singer (Z.Melas).
