Did they have colour cameras ? Actually the camerawork won an award, they worked very hard to make it more grey or sepia-toned, rather than the glaring brash technicolour normally available at the time. It's meant to be grim and grey. You wouldn't guess some of this was shot in the Canary Islands...

You shouldn't ask classically trained musicians to play traditional music, they simply don't get it right ! It's not just reading the notes, it's the style, a single bow across several notes, playing the same tune MORE THAN once so you show it's possibilities, playing it AABB ...
