Hello again and my apologies for not writing before, I hardly come to my channel now. It's a shame about the copyright business, would have been so good to see it. Anyway I hope you are keeping well and happy and painting away.....:)

You are very sweet....thank you, I'll keep this channel open if just for you :) I think meeting people like you and listening to what they have to say about art is one of the best reasons for being here. I mean, there is so much dross and just when you are about to despair along comes Alanlowndes........

As to Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince I read it as a child but have not read it in a very long time, I remember my father having a rather ornate book of his short stories and this was one of them. All I can recall is that the Happy Prince was never really happy and that a bird comes into the story. I have to read that again...you have whetted my appetite :) Thank you for liking my channel, it is very quiet but I shall retain it for the occasional traveller that wanders through :)

Which paintings of theirs do you like?

Hello again ! I love all of Diego Rivera's work so is very difficult to choose. I think very highly of a painting called Portrait of Lupe Marin and although my politics are in no way compatible with his I am mad about May Day Procession in Moscow and all his vast murals....spectacular paintings of peasants and soldiers. The closest we can get to him here is Stanley Spencer when thinking of large murals...another painter I am mad about. As to Frieda Kahlo I do like her work but not half as much as her husbands, however her self portraits are very quirky and she has an imaginative consistent style.

I do like some of Lee Krasner's work - I also think very highly of Diego Rivera and Frieda Kahlo - do you like their work?

Sadly Soutine never appealed to me, very energetic of course but too ugly for my taste and I'm not sure that I like my art to be ugly...funny I never found Freud to be ugly, not even his last painting, I thought it quite fantastic. Modigliani is another artist I love...Juan Gris (Harlequin with a guitar) and Sisley -- I remember going to the Sisley exhibition at the Royal Academy some years ago now.....I loved his work but heard many people complain about his boring clouds....I rather liked him.

I will try to make a video....I will read up on YT about how to go about it. I don't think my work is very good so I don't have confidence however it is YT and no one knows me here so I have nothing to lose. It's kind of you to be interested.
Lucien Freud was brilliant .....the thing I love best about him is how he handled flesh....just amazing! The ferocity of his work and the thickness of the paint staggered me. I am also a lover of Augustus John who I am featuring right now but I also love his sister Gwen, the quietness of her work is quite beautiful to me.

I also paint and perhaps one day I shall put my own paintings on a video....I have never made or uploaded a video in my life....there is first for everything !! Good to see you on my channel again may I ask who do you rate as an artist who influenced you? Do you like the work of Lucien Freud?
