Alam Jurutera Perunding is a consulting civil and structural engineering firm based in Kelang since August The main aim of the firm then was to provide the growing needs of civil and structural engineering services by local people of the fast developing Royal Town of Kelang. During the first two years, the firm was operating in a low profile and as the development within the town limit accelerated, the volume of engineering services rendered by the firm also increased. A well-qualified and experienced professional engineer was invited to strengthen the firm in order to provide wider services in the civil engineering field in 1979 and subsequently the firm was turned into "Sendirian Berhad". The firm is now better equipped to handle jobs of larger magnitude in both civil and structural engineering projects.

The firm has two directors who are professional as well as chartered engineers, four civil and structural engineers supported by a team of 3 designers/draughtspersons, a senior accounts clerk and a receptionist cum general clerk. The services provided by the firm are not only confined to designs of civil and structural engineering projects but also includes projects management, economic feasibility studies and projects evaluations.

All these years the firm's activities have been confined to the private sector. With the launching of the 4th Malaysian Plan, it is felt that the firm should also participate in whatever way possible to contribute at least some technical know how which the firm can offer to the public sector. The two directors of this firm had been in the government service viz:- J.K.R., Ministry of Education, Armed Forced Works Organisation in the Mindef and local authority. With the government service background and having had an in-depth knowledge of the government policy it is strongly felt that the firm can render a better service to the public sector.

Recently the firm underwent a restructure exercise with the phasing out of one of the directors. With the imminent changing trend of the professional engineering services, it is strongly felt that the engineering consultancy industry alone will not meet the challenge of the modern industrial development i.e. towards privatisation and turnkey projects. In order to tailor towards these requirements the time has come to venture a step beyond by pulling in professionals of other disciplines to join forces so that the general public can be better served not only in terms of quality of the services rendered but also time saving. With this in mind a professional architect was invited to sit on the board of directors from whom valuable advice pertaining to aesthetics and other aspects of buildings can be easily and readily sought for.
