Albert's advice to aspiring DJs:
Be true to yourself and spin what makes you, you! Don't get caught like 99% of DJs copying someone else's style to the point that you have no identity. We are all influenced by other great DJs, including myself and we all take a bit of their style and infuse it in our sets, but you must travel beyond and make your own persona.
Be an entertainer! With DJs now using Serato and laptops, all I see is DJs looking at their laptop screens and doing pre-rehearsed sets and forgetting that there is an audience present that they should be connecting with.
Don't base your set on prerecorded mash-ups and quick mixing songs so fast that you do no justice to the music your playing. If you want to spin mash-ups, which are just a BS word for blending or mixing, then do your own original stuff. Anyone can download someone else's creation and spin it like their mixing it! And spinning a 100 freakin' songs in 20 minutes doesn't make you a good DJ! Just means that you know where all the keys and shortcuts are on your laptop!
Know your value in the DJ world and don't undersell your talent! This not only hurts you, but every DJ looking to make a career or advance our art form.
Last, don't allow hater DJs to bother you and your goals. If they hate on you, that just means your doing something right.
