Antonio Jose Guzman Jaramillo is an established Dutch-Panamanian photographer, videographer, documentary director, Poet, VJ and Audiovisual Artist. Guzman's videos are a remarkable blend derived from experimental jazz, documentaries, the african diaspora and gravity.

Born in Panama city, he studied fine arts in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and graduated from the renown Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Guzman grew up in Panama City, Panama then moved to Costa Rica, New York City, London, Barcelona and finally Amsterdam when he was 23 years old. He began studying photography and video at early age, and became interested in polaraids in his teenage years. Shortly after arriving in Amsterdam, he established himself in the local art scene of the 90's, taking part in performances and installations in the Gran Silo and the Roodkapje in Rotterdam.

His current work includes worldwide art projects, documentaries, videos and portraits for Museums, Galleries and Audiovisual Foundations in Europe, Latin America and the U.S.

The aim of my work is to create audiovisual storytelling, in print, installations and multimedia projects, using interaction and reaction between different cultural groups internationally. Interaction is the best term we have to describe the skills we have acquired to mediate our interactions with the digital and networked world, interaction is one of the key practices of our century, and executed well, will help realise the potential new multicultural networks in our society.

Our current collaborative project, The L3 Project (Surrender to the Air), involves direct video interaction and reaction between different countries were the African Diaspora has identical repercussions; The groups are involved in digital storytelling using a web blog and a network where they broadcast and react to their own videos and documentaries.
