Artur Kaganovskiy was born in April 1986 in Moscow, Russia. At age four, he began his violin studies and by age five, entered the School for Talented Children at the Moscow Conservatory. He soon began appearing concerts and was featured on several television programs. A year later, in 1992, Mr. Kaganovskiy was introduced to the famed violinist Isaac Stern.
In 1992 Mr. Kaganovskiy immigrated with his family to the United States. In New York he continued his musical education at the Manhattan School of Music. Each year, Mr. Kaganovskiy performed numerous recitals, winning more than 20 awards and scholarships. For five years he was a concertmaster of five different orchestras, including the Manhattan Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Kaganovskiy has also recorded several works for violin and Orchestra written with dedication to him by his collegues.
In 2003 Mr. Kaganovskiy won the first prize in the Manhattan School Concerto Competition performing with the Manhattan Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Jonathan Strasser. In 2004 Mr. Kaganovskiy won first prize at the Five Towns Competition in New York.
Mr. Kaganovskiy took part in master classes with such distinguished violinists as Pinchas Zukerman, Joseph Silverstein and Zachar Bron. He participated in several prestigious Music festivals including the National Arts Center Young Artist Program in Ottawa, Canada studying Grigory Kalinovsky, Patinka Kopec, and Pinchas Zukerman.
Since 2004 Mr. Kaganovskiy has been studying violin with Masao Kawasaki and Lewis Kaplan at the Juilliard School while pursuing a bachelor of music degree. During the last three years Mr. Kaganovskiy has made more that 70 appearances, presenting a very wide range of repertoire. He performed not only as a soloist with orchestras in the U.S. and abroad , but also as a chamber musician in major Concert Halls in New York and Europe.
In 2006 Mr. Kaganovskiy toured with the Juilliard Orchestra, performing in major Concert Halls in Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, San Diego, and Irvine. In October 2006 Mr. Kaganovskiy gave several concerts dedicated to the Centennial Celebration of Dimitry Shostakovich at the famous Bruno Walter Hall in New York City as well as a solo concert in November 2006 at Paul Hall of the Juilliard School, and numerous recitals at Teaneck Hall in New Jersey.
On June 6th of 2007, Mr. Kaganovskiy made his debut in Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall, performing the E. Elgar Violin Concerto in B minor with the retired members of the New York Philharmonic and the Metrapolitan Opera Orchestra, under the direction of David Gilbert.
In August 2007, Mr. Kaganovskiy performed several concerts in Austria, and became a finalist at the Brahms International Violin Competition. In 2007, Mr. Kaganovskiy won the first place winner of the Waldo Mayo International Competition
In October of 2007, Mr. Kaganovskiy appeared on Russian Television Network.
In the summer of 2008, Mr. Kaganovskiy will be going on tour with the Juilliard Orchestra to China. He will be recording his Debut Album at Capitol Records in Los Angeles.
Mr. Kaganovskiy and his wife, Eszter Szilveszter Kaganovskiy are also the founding members of the Neos String Quartet and the New York Chamber Virtuosi Orchestra; which will give their Debut concert this June at Merkin Concert Hall in New York.
Mr. Kaganovskiy is a recipient of the prestigious Fritz Kreisler Scholarship, the H. Gilbert Family Scholarship, and the prestigious Joseph Fuchs Scholarship at the Juilliard School.
Recently, Mr. Kaganovskiy performed the Prokofiev Violin Concerto No.2 with the Chelsea Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yaniv Segal.
Mr. Kaganovskiy plays a rare Joseph Guarneri Del Gesu violin, loaned to him kindly by Julius Miklossy for his concerts in the United States and abroad.
