That's a very, very large and constant criticism of Pentax - the marketing and simple availability is no where near that of Canonikon. But when you actually can pick them up side by side, then Pentax is always the clear winner because of how well and compact they are built. Squeeze the D7000 grip hard and you can feel and hear the plastic creaking. Not possible with the K5/K7.
Also, seriously? That's a huge coincidence lol. But not the Marines, but with the Army. And in Bamberg :)

And really? They state that only the top buttons are sealed? I refuse to believe that because then that's not actual sealing - that's...I don't know what that is other than false advertising. Regardless, doesn't breed any confidence, that's for sure.
