A Fossa I met while visiting Tanganyika Wildlife Park, near Goddard, KS.
Fossas are the largest Mammalian predator on Madagascar, ans will frequently hunt and eat Lemurs. Although they're commonly mistaken as a feline, their closest relatives are the Mongoose, Meerkat, etc. They are amazing climbers, and can maneuver through the trees with incredible skill!
They were smaller than I had imagined, but they were both fully grown- Pictures just tend to make animals look bigger than they really are!

The island of Madagascar is known for its biodiversity, but is threatened by deforestation. Dr. Luke Dollar (Pfeiffer University) is one scientist making a distinct difference in Madagascar's future, through his research on endangered predators in remote forest reserves, aided by Earthwatch volunteers from around the world. (NOTE: while this project is ongoing, it has moved some of its specific field sites elsewhere in Madagascar; locations and transportation shown in this video are not necessarily those that current volunteers would experience.)
