It is quartz . LOL. Herkimer Diamonds used to be used as a cheaper substitute for real diamonds. on the mohs hardness scale a diamond is a 10 while quarts is 7 and glass is 5. So quartz like these are pretty much like the first CZ only they are not made in a lab.
