Dr. Mia Moody is a professor of journalism at Baylor University. She is the author of Black and Mainstream Press' Framing of Racial Profiling: A Historical Perspective, published by University Press of America in 2009. She teaches courses in public relations, minorities and women in the media and reporting.

Dr. Moody is gifted in addressing the media's framing of various issues including minorities, parenting, relationships, women and political campaign strategies. Her motivational talks include colorful, multimedia slides to illustrate key points highlighted throughout her presentations.

Moody earned her Ph.D. from the University of Texas, two master's degrees from Baylor University—a Master of Arts in Journalism in 2001 and a Master of Science in Educational Psychology in 1998. Her most recent works focus on negativity in the 2008 presidential primaries, images of women in rap music and the media's coverage of missing women.

She is editor for the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas' Women's Ministry Magazine. Previously, she was editor and publisher of "FOR" Seasons Magazine and Elegant Woman Magazine. Additionally, she was managing editor for Continuing Care and Home Healthcare magazines, published by Steven's Publishing.

The Bryan native served as a staff writer and columnist for the lifestyle section of the Waco Tribune-Herald from 1990 to 1997, and was a general assignment reporter and intern at the Bryan-College Station Eagle in 1988-1990. She also has held part-time writing and editing positions at Planning Forum, an architectural journal, and Waco Today magazine.

She is the proud mother of three children ages 17, 4 and 6.
