The moon originally was just 19-30Mm from Earth, the resulting tidal effects were thousands of times what they are today, resulting in internal frictional heating or 'tidal heating...

Well I see they started to talk about the Orion project later in the show--I guess I jumped the gun. But still their figures are a bit off, and they don't talk about who ran the project. So anyway, I highly recommend watching the documentary about Project Orion.
