The Museo e Instituto de la Herencia Africana de México / The Museum and Institute of the African Heritage of Mexico© is intended to be the ultimate display and repository of the African history of Mexico and an unprecedented means to develop the consciousness lacking in the subject. The story-line adopted will combat invisibility and convey a positive message by recognizing the living contributions of the multiethnic African people brought to Mexico from the 15th to the 19th centuries. The educational exhibit will be a means: to dismantle stereotypical and prejudiced images of Afrodescendants; to renew the Mexican imaginary starting with preschool age children; and to develop the morale of dark Mexicans who have been the focus of discrimination throughout the centuries.
