yea I would say for a 1 and only gun a glock 19. I have talked to a girl about this as well and she says that the glock 19 grip fits her hands better because it is smaller than the glock 17

I think for your needs, you need a glock. 1911's are great, but for defense for animals or humans, I would get a glock. But glad you enjoy shooting
