Ein-Gev Festival is the first music Festival in israel. In 1999 Ein Gev Festival change its character . It became an encounter of Israeli singing groups . They are singing not just in the auditorium but also on the shore of the lake of Tiberias. The public is singing. The main concerts are a cooperation of Israeli Radio Israeli Television and Jordan valley regional authority . they are dedicated to the important composers and poets of Israeli popular music.
The Festival started in 1943 . The Musicians and public met for a week together with the members of the young kibbutz. The musicians played in the dining hall . singers and peoples from kibbutz joined them.
The music Festival attracted thousands of people .They came from all the country by boat and cars to the kibbutz. Yaacov Steinberger and Teddy Kollek thought that the festival needs a auditorium . Ethel and frank cohen jewish activists from New York found "Esco"-a foundation that helped to build the hall according to the recommendation of the famous music director sergei koussevitski to build a building similar to Tanglewood the music center in boston. The Cohen family helped the music Festival for 40 years.
During the years all important artists played in Ein Gev:Leonard Bernstein, Yehudi Menuhin, Isaac Stern, Arthur Rubinstein, Marlen Ditrich,dancers like Noriev , Martha Grahm and,Marcel Marsso ,singers like Frank Sinatra,Pete Siger,jo cocker,Donovan,Odeta, Don McLean,La companion de la chanson. World important shows like Westside Story,porgy and bess.
Also all the important Israeli artists preformed in Ein Gev
