Born in Drumright, Oklahoma and raised in Kansas. C.B. Carter was born a son of a preacher man. Men wore suit and tie, including gold engraved cuff links. The women had hair that resembled bee hives. Everyone had a cardboard fan with a picture of Jesus on one side and the funeral home on the other. There were exuberant shouts of glory and murmured prayers. This was Carters earliest memories… To the dismay of his parents he was soon drawn not to the” good book “but to neon lights that flashed against an Oklahoma sky. Women whose legs went all the way up to heaven, Steel guitars with a crying silver bar. Twin fiddles that got inside his head and never went away. Texas swing music, the Honky Tonks in the tri state area. He played them all Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas. Carter grew restless playing bars and working the local radio stations. He decided to check out Nashville, Tennessee. Discovered by famed songwriter Curly Putman he was signed by Buddy Killian to Tree Publishing. His first demo session included another famous writer” Red Lane” playing guitar. “Lightning Chance” played bass… anyone else on that first session he can’t recall. Over the years his songs have been recorded by everyone from the “Platters” to Hank Thompson, Moe Bandy, the Kendall’s, James Horn, Elbert West and the list goes on. C.B. (No his initials do not stand for anything) now lives outside of Nashville in the Portland, Tennessee area. Still writing songs he has hooked up once again with multi –talented GMR recording artist “James Horn”. The label is in the process of re- releasing one of Horns earlier 1996 recording “If My Heart Had an Ass I Would Kick it” the song was a hit in the dance clubs of America but met resistance in radio.. Times have certainly changed since 1996 and Carter feels now is the time for it to be welcomed by the radio public. C.B. says he wrote the song for people who like to have fun and party. C.B. is a man of contradiction. Poet, songwriter, comedian, philosopher and a damn fine dancer. In the title of another of his songsI"ll Be Twenty Till I Die
