I think that Mr Thomas Jefferson summed up the character of this (putative) unsavoury Deity pretty adroitly, a couple of centuries ago, when he said: "The Christian God is a being of terrific character - cruel, vindictive, capricious and unjust."
I believe that the good Mr Jefferson also once said: "Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on Man."
