NEW ALBUM LOST CITY, OUT ON JAZZHEAD, AVAILABLE NOW ON iTUNES!!
The Anton Delecca Quartet play original jazz with influences spanning jazz, African and folk. The original line-up of the band was formed in mid 1998, since then they have played several seasons at Melbourne's Bennetts Lane Jazz Club. In 1999 they recorded for the ABC's radio program 'Jaztrack', and in 2001 they performed at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. Late in 2001 they released their debut album 'Flow' at Bennetts Lane. From 2003 to 2007 the band took a break while Anton Delecca focused attention on the world music inspired jazz group The Situationists. This line-up of the band has been performing since March 2008, and although essentially a new band, all of the members have played together a great deal prior to this project.
Saxophonist Anton Delecca and drummer Danny Farrugia play in internationally acclaimed deep funk band The Bamboos and are featured on all of their releases for UK record label Tru-Thoughts. They are also featured on spin off projects including the album 'Black Feeling' for Freestyle Records and the debut album for singer Kylie Auldist 'Just Say', on Tru-Thoughts. They have also recorded the music for a new video game called 'De Blob', recently released on the Nintendo 'Wii'!
Anton has performed/recorded/toured with American saxophonists Odean Pope and Arthur Blythe, NYC Latin Soul singer Joe Bataan, New Orleans piano legend Eddie Bo, UK vocalist Alice Russell, UK producer Will Holland's Quantic Soul Orchestra and Australian rock band Icehouse. Melbourne groups include: Frock, The Cat Empire, The B Sharp Big Band, Bennetts Lane Big Band, Los Cabrones and various others. In 2000 he studied in New York with saxophonists Dave Liebman (Miles Davis), George Garzone and Chris Potter.
