Not one person's fault- it's both. Avery was wrong to throw before squaring off. He didn't show a reasonable intent to fight. Smid's fault for not being prepared. You're in the nhl trash talking a hard-nosed player. Expect it, you embraced it.

I would call the hit dirty, but wouldn't call richards dirty. I don't think he intended to get him there. I think he just wanted to hammer any offense at their own blue line.
