Adam J AKA Lockdown. His alias is, somewhat, of a contradiction of terms. Lockdown is not locked down to the current trend of todays rap. While most rappers are losing the flow and gaining hooks, Adam J keeps in mind how hip-hop started out. A lyrical mastermind, Adam J has something to say when he clinches the mic, grabbing his listeners attention from the first bar to the last. Born in the backwoods, raised in the streets of Houston, back to the sticks as an adolescent and finally spending the latter of his teen years in incarceration, he has been exposed to almost every circumstance imaginable. From kicking in doors to having his promotional vehicle stolen, from dropping out of high school to starting his own business, from being hooked on drugs to helping wean homies off the same shit so it doesnt kill em Adam J HAS BEEN THROUGH IT ALL. This defines his style, makes his words relate to the masses and fuels his music. Regardless of genre, race, age, or beliefs his music is accepted by all, hated by few, and without a doubt the freshest thing to hit the streets since California homegrown!
I guess now I can tell you about how he has already created 4 albums in less then two years , has been played on local radio stations, created a huge fan base ALL OVER Houston, been in mainstream music videos, blah,blah,blah. But, as you read this and use this as a tool for your opinion of him, you are doing yourself a great injustice. Youve been handed this biographical periodical when you should have just handed Adam J a mic. No paragraph, no story, no stack of pics from a photo shoot will give you the pleasure youll get from LISTENING to Adam J.
