The strapping baby boy of the South Jersey music scene, Action Set filters clever lyrics through melodic pop hooks. Conceived several months after their first show was booked and well before a name was settled on, the band has managed two tours of duty at WXPN's World Cafe, stretched their legs as far north as Boston, and penned enough original music to fill a triple debut album, all in a year. Fronted by songwriters Sam Smith and Pat Hipp and backed by Don Ocava and Travis Doyle, Action Set draws inspiration from such bands as the Pixies, Wilco, and the Replacements. The band is currently self-producing their debut album, due out this Spring.
