About this user
I am Paulo Malaria, documentally Paulo Izecksohn. I vegetate in a 3rd world country which is world's #1 in street crime, drunk driving and attacks to tourists (don't come!). Trying to give a reason to my life,I've produced so far 10 records of my band, ACIDENTE. Lineup and style varies, but is always ACIDENTE: 30 years on the road, 10 records, no hit.
My sight is problematic, therefore I'm not much for videos, but music is everything to me and I discovered in youtube a goldmine of songs that can't be found elsewhere on the web. What a pity I don't know how to download, and sometimes an user with specially interesting material vanishes in cyberspace.
As a seacher, I have 3 targets:
1) Progressive rock. This is the utmost music of my time and in this case everything is welcome, even well known bands.
2) Now talking about rock'n'roll, pop rock, hard rock, power pop, I look for the rarities. One-hit wonders, no-hit wonders, songs that weren't admitted into the selected clubs of "oldies", "flashback",
"good times", "remember" and so on, disappearing as if they have never exist. But not in my mind. As I wrote above, I "live" at the end of the world, and musical taste here doesn't fit, people don't speak
English (I try hard, but I know the result is bad), but radio sometimes used to be a window to the world. Not anymore, but very long ago there were some radio stations uncommitted to the market that, each one its style and always for a brief time, played songs that wouldn't be found at a record shop near you. I refer moreover to 7 inches that became rare even in their countries because, unlike it is common to albuns, their contents weren't translated to CDs. Some of these tunes I can only figure what were their probable names; others, not even this. But they knock on my brain every day asking: "identify me!". And I know I won't rest in peace until I do it. My search's range spans from the 50s to the 80s, when music began to lose quality, but I'm particularly interested in the period 1967-78. By this time broadcasted here, among others, legendary Eldo-Pop FM (1973-1978), that didn't name the tracks, but whose mostly progressive and hard repertoire was completely decodified for fans who recorded it originally on cassette tapes!!! However, it's impossible to find the same about AMs Mundial and Tamoio, that in the late 60s and early 70s duelled aircasting each one foreign 7' that the other didn't have.
Almost 40 years later, how to recover these songs? I guess youtubbers can help it.
3) A rotten stain in my taste. Yes, I also dig mega-hits, since they're sliced and packed into a playlist kind of top 100 from this or that year, #1 in an specific day each year, and so on. Reduced to seconds and surrounded by information, they become pleasant to listen to. I have already added a lot of these lists to my favourites, but most are American, and miss more of them from other countries.
