@BJsRealm I see! I'm Norwegian, so I can't really tell. Scots and Irish are sometimes a bit difficult- though not impossible- to tell apart. But I hear a very clear difference to the English. It seems to me that Colin is supressing his dialect in the series.

@1gameboy321 Absolutely! There are some truly amazing music by Handel. But that music is rarely heard. You just hear the same stuff over and over again.

@cousinjk All things considered, It must be "Messiah". And that is what most people will say. Handel himself seems to have regarded "Theodora" as his best. As with all things, It's ultimately a matter of personal taste. But "Messiah" is without doubt the most popular.

Why does everybody think humour ( of the lowest, silliest sort) is the way to get today's idiots interested in Handel? Let's face It: people today are emotionally and estetically handicapped, and they are unable to keep their interest up for more than ten minutes. So just give up -as I have done!

Britten used Handel's music as raw material for his Champions League hymn. I suppose this is a prove of Handel's ability to be THE composer for public occations even now.

It's not only about his voice, I think. He was such a good and warm human being, if I am correct. And that is what made him such a wonderful singer. You can hear that warmth in Björlings voice.
