@sadie513 I am a Halien but your explanation is totally off. Casey performed Moanin' during his audition on his melodica, so I am sure that is where the idea originated. Plus, to say that "Nigel and company" discouraged or would discourage this song is highly unlikely.

I encourage anyone to take an inquisitive look at the lyrics to this song. For example, what are they talking about when they say "with just one kiss"? This song would be great for an english or creative writing class...

@jayauquillaaa What I am saying is that American Idol has become a means to an end, a way for successful singers to get national exposure. Their stories are fabricated to make them seem like common people, when in reality they are seasoned performers.

@BillMonarch I agree, but if it were me personally I would have made the same decision they made, sacrificing cohesion to keep what I would consider a much better song (cupids dead). Its a tough discussion though and your point is well taken.

I would argue that albums like this are more special than pet sounds or today. I always like things that do not fit into any box, and capture a rare moment.

As simon would say, she has a great way of making each song her own. Rarely does she perform a song that seems contrived or unnatural for her. That in itself is so hard to do week in and week out, but amazingly she just wills it her own.

This album is my second favorite album of all time, and yet every time I listen to it, I have a different understanding of it. It is an infinitely layered composition that one can never fully comprehend.

I just visited San Diego and could not get this song out of my head the whole time I was there. It made my trip so much better.
