"Many rappers display intelligence in their songs. I think casual listeners and non-fans base their opinions of the "ignorant" rapper on hit singles, this new club rap fad, and the stereotypes that are no doubt present in hip hop. But if you listen to some older artists, underground artists, and rap CDs in their entirety, you will find intelligent social, political, philosophical commentary. Is it on par with a thesis paper? No, but it shouldn't be. Like any group, there is variety in rap."
