Parenting is an art with fine lines and perfectly painted images. It's not mathematical; there are no right answers.

Some parents might look like poetry in motion, every word so elegant, every movement like ballet.

Other parents like free verse or abstract design.

Some have all the answers, all the money, all the time.

Others work long hours for little pay and don't know what to say.

Sometimes it works out right, sometimes it blows up in their face.

Other times it works out wrong and 'good' parents turn up their nose.

Some parents have been there; they can relate.

Old parents, new parents, grandparents alike,

Say they've had their share of woes.

Old parents, new parents, grandparents too,

Say they've seen and done it all.

Some children grow up and lead good lives.

Others grow up and struggle and fight.

Some children grow up secure and safe.

Others never learn how to make ends meet.

Some children thank their parents for what they achieve,

Others place blame and can't stand on their own two feet.

Some children become good parents, some become bad parents.

Others have no kids, won't bring them into this world.

Some children come from good homes and grow up with nothing to show.

Others come from bad homes and grow up to have it all.

They are their own person, their own being, their own soul.

They look to us for direction, love and hope.

They judge us when they're young and forgive us when they're old.

They don't care if we have money or a fancy car,

They don't care if we said all the right things.

They want us to love them just for who they are,

The individual being made from two people who

Tried their best and did what they thought was right.

The two people who loved them the way they knew how,

The way they were taught when they were small.

Some might say there is a right way and some say not.

It's like a ballet, a dance, with rhythm and rhyme.

It's like a song sung sometimes with a different beat.

It's not like the seasons, it doesn't come and go and

It's not like the sun; it's not sure to rise and set.

It's a lot like life with good and bad, ups and downs

Ins and outs, twists and turn.

Some parents will agree with me, others will not.

One thing is for sure: the moment you know

Your child has been conceived, you are no longer

One individual being, one person, one soul.
