The American Baseball Foundation(ABF) was founded in Birmingham, Alabama in 1994. In working with local communities, the ABF perceived an opportunity to meet children's needs beyond sport. Using baseball/softball as a vehicle to increase the child's desire to read, the ABF has created the highly successful program entitled Baseball & Academic Skills Instructional Course (BASIC).
