I am a gay mormon that is dedicated to helping others that are struggling with the issue and are trying to balance their identity with their faith.

Im trying to reach the other gay mormons that are struggling with this issue... The Church does have an official position on what is considered "same gender atraction" or "same sex attraction"... It can be reviewed further at beta-newsroom.lds.org/official-statement/same-gender-attraction This is the most recent revelation that has been given on the subject. I invite, homosexuals and heterosexuals alike to please read this over thoroughly, so that we may see what is expected of us. We want to be just as religious and close to the church as any heterosexual person, yet some members and leaders of the church are making us feel inferior and not of worth to the church. The church cannot afford to cast out people from the church for reasons which they have no control over. The church needs to be spreading the gospel and bring more sons and daughters unto God, not scaring them away and making them feel worthless. You have no idea how hard it is to be gay and be mormon. I and every other gay mormon I know have cried endless nights, prayed constantly, fasted, done counseling, talk with church leadership, etc tirelessly trying to change only to be met with the reality that it can't be changed. God has different purposes and plans for everyone, and being gay is definately one of the hardest, if not the single most hardest thing a mormon could ever have to go through. Those of us that have chosen to stick with the faith, must remain completely celibate and face the most sad reality we may never have a family of our own. You have no idea how terrible that feels when you see all these happy beautiful families in sacrament meeting and you realize you will never be able to attain that while on this earth. The good news is, as the church as eloquently stated, If circumstances arise that you are unable to attain a family here on earth, Heavenly Father will provide a way for it in the hereafter. You and the rest of the church have to realize we are just like you, except we are faced with this ultimate trial... compassion, love, and understanding are what we need most. We are just like you, latter day saints, holding ourselves accountable to God by living the principles of the Gospel. Heavenly Father expects us to speak up on the things we do not feel are right. It is our responsibility as church members to help bring forth zion in these latter days, by any means necessary.
