About this user
I am a firm believer that through discourse, empathy, and freethinking, humanity can continue to progress in the face of obstacles from within and without. I would describe myself as being autodictatic, center-left, pragmatic, humanistic, and ignostic (albeit with an appreciation for spiritual practices such as meditation and contemplation). I want to immerse myself in this world and live a life that is fulfilling, productive, and full of experiences. I want to make the most of this single gift of life and leave a positive impact on the world and those I share it with.Love, knowledge, and compassion are the key drivers of my life. I walk the pragmatic path both politically and ideologically, seeking out the values and beliefs that I genuinely feel to be the most beneficial to myself and society. I want to understand every perspective, whether agreeable or dissenting, and take a position only when it has been thoroughly research and when it has been demonstrated to maximize utility.
Winston Churchill once said that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. I want my life to be full of giving. The world has been kind to me, and given much, and I must show my gratitude in kind.
I hope to do good things in the world. I want to work in diplomacy or humanitarian development, either for the State Department, the United Nations, or some other sort of international organization. Someday, I hope to start my own NGO or charity and give back to a world that has given me so much. Even if I never reach my preferred occupations, I will be content working in any capacity that facilitates education, empathy, compassion, charity, and good deeds. I have two BAs in Political Science and International Relations from Florida International University, and hope to obtain a Masters in International Public Administration and another in Diplomacy. I've dabbled in a few other course subjects as well, including History, Anthropology, Life Sciences, Art, and Philosophy. Had I the time and means , I would probably major it in all -- but that's what books and free time are for!
