Zero Kiryu is unique being both a vampire and a Vampire Hunter who carries the anti-vampire gun called "Bloody Rose".
He was trained to be a Vampire Hunter before becoming a vampire, and was noted by the Hunter Association to be talented.
After being bitten by a pureblood vampire who also murdered his family, it made him suffer the painful transformation into a vampire which developed a deep hatred and distrust towards vampires.
After that attack his temperament turned cold and hostile, and at times cruel.. despite originally being a gentle character by nature.
However, his innate nature is to protect humans, his cold attitude towards those he loves is likely to push them away and keep everyone at a distance for their own safety.
Zero bears a tattoo, the Hunter's Seal, on the left side of his neck originally used to suppress his vampire side.
Following his full awakening into a vampire, Zero harbors a great disgust towards himself because of inability to control his hunger and fights it to the point of starvation trying to overcome his fall into the madness.
