you describe the band as a "pick up" but I believe it may be most of his touring band. It looks like Gary on keys, & possibly Chris on bass (I believe he re-joined the band). That's Probyn Gregory playing guitar (Brian Wilson Band) on Deans' left. Also pretty sure that's the author of "When We...

I have long cited Young At Heart as my favorite movie; can't help putting it on the VCR at Christmas for a comfortable trip down memory lane. Gratefully, Mr. Sinatra had the original ending re-written for a happier conclusion rather than the fate John Garfield met in Four Daughters.

The Dutchman, what a wonderful gift to us all from Michael Smith. And JJW? My world would've been less without his work. Funny though, so many years ago before The NGDB had a huge hit with JJW's Mr. Bojangles, we had a little folk rock quartet in Newark, NJ whose set list included Mr. B. As P...

An incredible song I have enjoyed for many years by almost anyone who sings it! But I agree, Steve has the quintessential recording (though it is interesting to hear Michael Smith sing his own work). And yes, the tears and lump came even before my own father's life went the way of The Dutchman'...

It's like Samuel Barber could see into the future and know that Dawn Upshaw would be born. This piece of music and this singer . . . no comparison IMHO. I love when it pops up on my iPod while I am out walking.

This needs to be clarified. OWY was NOT on POB, rather, it came as a bonus track on the POB Legacy release. It was NOT originally on the POB album, rather it was first heard on Holland.

Mike looks a little "steroid" paunchy - hope it's just his diet & nothing serious. Seeing Al just makes it even more nostalgic but i wonder if there could be additional concerts with all the remaining Beach Boys? Personally I am happy to see them all doing their own thing.

I'd listen to this back in the day on WNEW-FM in NYC but I missed out on the original release when the record company went out of business. I was delighted a few years later (mid 70s) to find it re-released. It's been amongst my go to LPs when I need to feel really old!
