As sort of a matter of bro to bro respect. You should never wear a Trilby with a T shirt. It goes well with a shirt and tie, or a polo shirt - but it's more of a "business casual" hat. Likewise it doesn't go well with a full suit unless you have a very specific head shape - A wider brimmed hat such as a fedora works better in these situation.
