Originally conceived to be an overhyped Filipino remake of the original Shaider (with Marky Greenballs Cielo in the lead role), it became a rip-off series which stars Dennis Turnilyo. Toei rejected the original script because of unacceptable fag dramatic content but gave its blessing to a rip-off series set twenty years after the original series (Talk about growing with your father, in this case, you're as old as your dad). Cielo's character name, Alexis, is a reflection of the project's original concept, as Alexis is the Philippine name for Dai Sawamura. If considered as part of the original continuity, which is doubtful because it's a drama-packed crap instead of traditional Tokusatsu series, Zaido is not the fourth installment of Uchuu Keiji (Space Sheriffs) Tetralogy (composed of Uchuu Keiji Gavan, Uchuu Keiji Sharivan, and Uchuu Keiji Shaider), and the eighteenth Metal Heroes series, which has had a ten-year hiatus, thus Zaido is branded Mental Hospital Heroes
