Excavator: Excavators are used on the Parkway to remove materials like soil, clay, and granular material. The shovels allow them to place the material in trucks. Excavators consist of a boom, stick, bucket and cab on a rotating platform (known as the "house"). The house sits atop an undercarriage with tracks or wheels. Excavators were used in demolition of buildings, and are being used in the excavation of the lowered roadway and tunnelled sections, and will also be used to place materials like road base aggregates, asphalt, and cement. See photos of excavators in use on the Howard Avenue CPR Grade Separation Project where they placed cement for the roadbed, at the Howard Avenue Diversion for the #weparkway, and also for the road diversions.
Excavatrices : Elles sont utilisées sur la route pour enlever les matériaux comme la terre, l'argile et des composés granulaires et les charger à bord des camions. Elles comportent une flèche, un bras, un godet et une cabine sur une plateforme rotative appelée tourelle. La tourelle se trouve sur la carrosserie et le véhicule est mû par des chenilles ou des roues. Les excavatrices sont utilisées pour la démolition d'immeubles, pour l'excavation des chaussées routières qu'il faut abaisser et des tunnels, et on s'en sert aussi pour les agrégats de fondation, de même que pour l'asphaltage et le bétonnage. Concrete is pumped into the work site by a concrete pump truck. Concrete mixing trucks load the concrete into the pump. From there, crews move the hose into the locations and the concrete is pumped into the forms. A special tool is used to vibrate the wet concrete to consolidate it which removes any excess air and settles the stone mix. Once the concrete is in place, it is smoothed and covered to set. Concrete normally takes 24 hours to set and strengthens in approximately a week.
Le béton est pompé sur le chantier par un camion de pompe à béton. Le camion malaxeur ajoute le béton dans la pompe. De ce point, l'équipage déplace le tuyau aux endroits désignés et le béton est pompé et formé. Un outil spécial est utilisé pour vibrer le béton mouillé pour le consolider et donc enlève l'excès d'air et aide le mélange de pierres à s'installer. Une fois le béton placé, il est lissé et couvert pour se solidifier. Le béton prend à peu près vingt-quatre heures pour solidifier et devient encore plus renforcie dans approximativement une semaine
