Patients, families, Nemours Associates and other invited guests gathered on the grounds of Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children today to celebrate the completion of the hospital’s expansion. Construction began on the 450,000 square foot expansion in August 2011, and a topping-out ceremony was held in June 2013 in honor of the placement of the last steel beam for the project. The new space was designed by families, for families and features all single-patient rooms, an expanded emergency department and pediatric intensive care unit, he soaring 5-story Anthony N. Fusco, Sr, Atrium, and the state of the art Discovery Zone presented by DuPont. Patients will begin occupying the new space in mid-October.
Beginning October 22, Central Florida families can access world-class pediatric specialties previously unavailable in the Southeast. This new hospital in Lake Nona Medical City was designed by patients and families. It features a fully integrated, 62-acre pediatric health campus, with family-centered specialty care, education, and state-of-the-art hospital services. Family members can stay with their child round-the-clock, in large, private rooms. It's all part of our commitment to kids and their families. Your Child. Our Promise.
